The Apostle Paul says that Christ has given leaders to the church to “equip” the saints not to “serve” the saints. So why do we treat pastors like entertainers, CEOs, or suppliers of religious goods and services?
Micah Fries talks about his new book, “Leveling the Church,” and how healing the clergy-laity divide is more important than ever. Also this week: a study finds Christians are more likely to own dogs while atheists own cats—but there’s a twist. The end has come for TV eschatologist Jack Van Impe. And Ethical Veganism has become a recognized religion in the UK launching the podcast crew into a wider discussion about ethics and animals.
Since Christian gets sooo exasperated with Phil's silly (non political) articles there could be a new segment where Christian brings her own "reasonable/, worthwhile" news.
I listen every week and appreciate your thoughtful discussion. Thank you for providing a way for listeners to comment. Normally I agree whole heartedly with almsot everything you say. However once in a while you cross a line from discussing ideas to mocking people. I think that happened in this episode with the discussion of Rexella's name. Your assessment of her husband's show was spot on, but considering she just lost her husband, maybe we don't need to mock her hname?
Now I promise I'll go listen to the rest of this episode.
I really just want to be the first person to comment on the shiny, new site...a site dedicated to one of The Great Podcasts. Am I first??? Please???
