398: Tales from the Quarantine & Being Kind with Ashlee Eiland

Phil, Skye, and Christian talk via Zoom as they “shelter at home” during the coronavirus pandemic (sorry for the audio quality), but there is some good news. Clothing sales are up—but only for tops. Churches experiment with ‘drive-in’ worship. Phil shares N.T. Wright’s honest thoughts about the pandemic and why the best Christian response is lament, while Skye responds to fundamentalists who are certain that homosexuality and environmentalism are to blame for the virus. Plus, Mars Hill’s teaching pastor, Ashlee Eiland, talks about her new book and the power of radical kindness in a world of fear.

Skye mentioned not being familiar with Dollinger, the man quoted as saying that COVID19 is whatever-level God's judgment for homosexuality and environmentalism. He is a very influential Christian nationalist whose ministry does Bible Studies at every level of government. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/29/magazine/ralph-drollinger-white-house-evangelical.html

Please please please keep making With God Daily in audio! I appreciate your voice reading your own words and scripture. I know it’s way more work but if you could keep doing it and raise the subscription cost to receive the audio it would be worth it to me and I would so subscribe! And share the heck out of it!! Thank you for your voice of reason in this period of crazy.

You should record everyone locally and splice it together. The sound quality would be much better. You can use something like zoom to make aligning the audio easier.

You mentioned listening to podcasts with our extra time. Could you give me a few suggestions? I look forward to The Holy Post conversations concerning church and cultural perspectives every week! Thanks!
